20" barrel on 338 Lapua

To each their own, part of the fun of firearms. I'd be be careful shooting it prone in a field full of dry grass on a windy day though:D

If you do build it, take pictures after dark of the muzzle blast just for fun.
 
Unless this is a matter of chopping an existing barrel to obtain a more readily deployed weapon, why the .338 Lapua? Oh yeah, the brass thing; but handicapping your performance to use best brass is questionable. If rebarreling, the .338 Norma is more efficient. Can also go withe the Lazzeroni which also works with a .590 bolt

There's also potential in the .338/375 Ruger, but it is standard magnum bolt size, .533. Actually, at 20" oal barrel, the .338/284 is about the most efficient and enables neck depth only seating of 300gr vld match bullets. .338/284 is the ballistic twin of the .338-06 and has Lapua brass available that only needs a tapered expander for the neck-up.
