20-223AI V's 204

Just after some info about the round,
Currently shoot the 223AI, so have all the gear.
I was thinking about a rebarrel into the 20 cal.

I'm in the same situation having the 223AI already, and I have a 20-223AI reamer on order. Going with 11 twist barrels. I think brass selection is best reason to go this route. I have a stash of IMI brass that I'm going to use, or I may just size some of my formed 223AI IMI brass on down to 20. It is pretty much all once fired. My goal is to get close to 4000 with 40 class bullet.

Joe,

I have had a 204 and have a 20 Tac 12tw now. I get 3900 f/s with a 39gr Blitzking, using Lapua brass. The 20- 223AI would work.

+1 on the 223-20.

I shot a 20 Practical and had saw 3940 fps with Sierra Blitzkings in the node, could go quite a bit higher but why?

26" CBI on a PTA action, so accurate it was boring.

I run the .20-.223AI for the same reason. Pacnor 28" 3 groove 8 1/2tw on a PTA. Kiff's recommendation on the throat for the Berger 55's. Fire forming and H4895 gets me 3975 fps with the 39 gr. BK's. Reloader 17 with the Bergers loaded at 2.450" COL gets me 3640 fps. Very accurate rifle!

I got 2 204 AI one is a 1-8 twist for the 55 bergers going 3400 fps the other shoots the 39 blitz kings at 3950 both guns just hammer. at 200 yards 5 shoot groups are .180 to .270 1-8 twist is a pac-nor 1-12 is a shilen. Both are 1.250 strait barrels. 28 long
