20/20 on ABC

You bet it will. Diane Sawyer is baffled that we can't stop the madmen killings by restricting gun ownership. She should council a bit with John Stossel who had an excellent show about two years ago and documented that gun control in fact has the inverse effect on crime.
Watching the news lately sends a cold chill up my spine with these gun rampages which will eventually result in calls for additional gun control.

I missed 20/20 last night. But tonight on the ABC news, they took another shot at gun owners. They solicited a young man whose sister was murdered by the psychotic who killed 30 people at Virginia Tech two years ago. ABC gave this kid $5,000 and told him to buy several guns, using no i.d. He purchased a Glock before entering the gun show, but they did not say the seller was a private individual); then went into the building and purchased an AR,presumably from a dealer), again no background check, etc. The show pointed out that by VA law, both transactions were legal. Two bills to change those requirements have been rejected by the VA legislature.

Obviously, the execs at ABC are on a vendetta. They sense that this administration has the clout to pursue total confiscation. I doubt that we will lose our firearms - ammo and reloading components will become easy legislative targets. Nancy Pelosi has already suggested a Federal excise tax of 500% be levied on sales of all ammo. Join the NRA, its our only support.

I watched the 20/20 show and it was total cr@p!

It bashed guns, gun laws, gun shows and people who carry guns!

It was very biased in a negative way twards guns in general.

If anyone esle saw it I am sure they would agree...

one thing for sure..these stations need money to operate,,money generated from add revenue..ratings dictate the amount the network can charge for a particular time slot..vote with your feet..dodnt watch the network news shows..ratings drop..revenues drop..maybe they get the message..tune to fox cable news and leave it there..if this became a movement..a TV tea party..you would soon have their attention

Watch the shows. Make note of the sponsors. Contact the sponsors and tell them why you are refusing to use their products. Let the companies know that sponsoring these shows is bad for their business. Contact ABC and let them know you have contacted the sposors of the show. Get involved!! REALLY involved. When you have done your part, then you have the right to gripe about it on a forum.

I missed 20/20 Friday night and did not note sponsors of ABC 'World News' last night. Can anyone identify sponsors of those programs? Thanks.

I haven't watched a broadcast national news program in several years. I also only very rarely watch the local broadcast news. Dan Rather,,a 'Tino', Texan in name only) finished me off.

Though flawed by frequently shallow research and inept presentation, Fox cable news at least does some research, and has become the only news channel I can tolerate.

The major broadcast networks are overtly driven by liberal ideology.

Fox, on the other hand, I believe is driven mainly by profit,,OK by me) and secondarily, to have at least some level of credibility. They are in fact profitable, and in my opinion, they have also managed to establish and maintain a degree of credibility. If you wonder how to measure that credibility, ask yourself when was the last time a Fox News commentator has been proved to have lied about any issue for any reason. Then try to count the times that they have been accused of it by the scum they expose or broadcast and the other cable news networks. Those organizations have in fact institutionalized the practice of lying about, ignoring, or covering up anything that doesn't support their view, notably firearms ownership and the idiotic belief that crimes are the gun's fault, not the sociopath using it.

I have unfortunately become essentially a single issue voter. Without the protection of the 2nd amendment, the others will be taken away from us. 'Any government big enough to give you everything is big enough to take it away'.

If NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR and the rest all failed, the truth about America would not be affected, because they don't broadcast a true picture of our country anyway. However, their failure would scare me more than the crap they presently call news and analysis. That doesn't mean that I will watch them or listen to them though. Not for any reason. Some one might conclude that I am supporting them.

Sorry about getting so long-winded, Tom

I taped it even though I knew the story line before it aired.
Funny thing for me is they spent more time covering how a legal gun transaction could occur at the gun show and how this loop hole must be stopped. But after their short segment of how some men were giving kids $60 bucks to get them 'piece' illegally, it was dismissed.

Second thing that pissed me off was the school shooting staged demo. Gunman enters classroom, knows who has gun and immediately targets them and they get hit repeatedly. I college student w/ no training. They conclude having a gun wouldn't have helped them. What's the frek'n alternative? Getting shot in the head looking up from under a desk?

I have no fondness for the media.

Yeah, they gave the kid, whose sister, I think, was killed at Virginia Tech)$5,000 and sent him into a gun show in Virginia. He bought a Glock, AK47, and several other guns at the show without showing any ID or anything. All were bought from individual sellers and not from dealers at the show. While I realize that individual sales in Virginia don't have to go through NICS checks there are still a couple of things that hack me off about this. First there are dealers inside the building that have paid good money for tables and are trying to do the right thing by selling guns and conducting business like it ought to be done. Then you have some 'dealers' who look for a way around the law and set up in the parking lot and start hawking guns that they have had on their personal log books for over a year. Then you get individual sellers inside and outside who just want to sell or trade their gun to a dealer for something else. I realize that this is not illegal, albeit a bit shady when a dealer sells out of his car in the parking lot, but it hurts me as dealer who has paid his fees and tries to conduct an 'above board' business and sell only to people who are clean enough to pass a NICS check. You may cry that ABC is showing only the bad stuff, but it IS our bad side and as long as this kind of selling goes on we are going to get nailed and it won't stop. If,and I mean IF) a lot of these guns are going to New York street gangs then it ought to be stopped and WE ought to be the ones stopping it and not ABC news.

The truth is that gun violence is a social issue, primarily an urban social issue, but a problem of how children are being raised in these areas that have high gang violence. They, the dems, don't want to point to the failings of Johnson's 'Great Society', and all of the Socialist programs that have led to the destruction of the family, especially with minorities. Guns have to be the blamed so that is not examined.

clowdis is spot on with his assessment. I watched this happen while living in Az. Dems, social, urban, call it what you want to. The fact is...... they are easily accessible in many parts of the country.

I watched about the first 10-15 minutes. The canned scenarios couldn't fool anyone with half a brain. How much BS can a normal thinking human being be expected to swallow before they throw up? I had to shut it off.
