2 or 3oz trigger for savage single shot action

what is the deal about removing a bolt? How is the bolt on the bench any safer than a bolt all the way pulled to the back of the raceway where everyone can see it is safe?

And if you're dealing with an Accu Trigger, there's "springs" that can be switched out. Never had the need myself as The Accu Trigger works fine for me as is. ;)

And when it comes to a "bolt lift kit", when any of my Savage rigs work as smooth as my Remington XP 100 action, I'll be happy. :D

Just my opinion, but in my experience, there are no Savage triggers suitable for benchrest. I have had all but a Jard and did have one of those in a Cooper. Wasn't impressed. That being said, there is a bolt "sleeving" procedure that doesn't involve machining. Epoxy can be used to tighten up the bolt. Gordy Gritters does it and my local gunsmith, who went to Gordy's school did one for me. Mine is on Savage "J" action and has a Rifle Basix SAV 2. It reduced the bolt clearance to about 1.5 thousandths. I don't have a trigger scale that will measure less than 8 oz. but this trigger won't even move the scale. Based on my experience with jewells and B&A, it is probably about 4oz. and very reliable. On another topic here, our range only allows rifles to have bolts in place when they are on the firing line and pointed downrange. Light triggers are not a problem.

I will respectfully disagree with the claim that there is no savage trigger suitable for benchrest. I have owned a gun that had the trigger work done by Sharp Shooter Supply. I can’t say exactly what they did but whatever it was, they got it right. The trigger broke like ice consistently right under 4 ounces. I could go from any of my guns with bix or jewels right to this gun with zero problems in execution. The gun had a custom bolt that had been trued and nicely fluted. Still wondering if I should have sold it.
