2 kinds of dogs.

Called in a nice big old male coyote, worn teeth but real nice fur for the 1st day of summer coyote. Grass was knee high and it popped up from a deep rutted 2 track/drainage area we were calling over. Never saw it until he came out of the gully to look at the call, Thwap 85 yard shot. Using one of my own cant resist mixes. Thunder storm/lighting started to move in so we called it, no use being lighting rods!
Hit another ranch for p-dogs today. Shooting fron 145 yards to 616 yards (pals 6.5 CM). My longest was 517 yds with the .223, calm winds, Sunny, low 80s, biting flys, consistant shooting in a spot the rancher wanted. Hawks were feeding on them after about 2 hrs of shooting, coyotes will feed there good tonight.
My standard Savage build, .223, 50g V & Z max loads, shooting suppressed.
Been a bit since I put up p-dog pics as they all look the same after a hit as we all know.
Kids coyote

517 yd, hawk ate most of it by the time we stopped.

387 yd

467 yd

Hawks, coyotes, ravens come to eat. Last year I had a badger come in and carry off the p-dawg carnage, while we were shooting..

Thanks for sharing your hunt and pics with us.I love the last pic, gotta love a two track with a big sky view in a secluded spot like that.
I hate to admit it,as much as I love my 17s and 20s but a 223 ain’t bad for 90 percent of varmint shootin.
