2 coyotes & 1 6x45.

Dropped 2 males about the same time in 2 days in just about the same spot, 300 yds from each other.
My Savage build a 6x45 using the 65g vmax at 3017 fps, both under 100 yds due to my calling.
Yesterdays came trotting in hard & barking, the one today was suddenly just there, not a sound from it at all.
I again had them howling all around me in the arryos & hills.
31lb male & 26 lb male today. Fur coats are super also & todays was a 2 point tail, my 1st.

Nice going, being an easterner that has never hunted them, what is a 2 pointed tail? Your weather looks better than ours is right now.Windy and rainy on opening day of bow season.

Thank you.
2 pointer is a tail that has white hair in it. This one had 22 white tail hairs in the black tip.

Well done! Mouth call or electronic? Looks like your 6X45 build is doing the job.
A mixture of both. I was testing a pals new Turbo Dogg electronic call. I had it set up below me about 50 yards both times so the signal to the remote stayed good. I was working my hand calls so there was howls/barks from 2 seperate locations making them think others were eating "easy" food with a fawn distress and hunting barks.

What length barrel you shooting? The 65gr vmax is just right for the 6x45. Mine shot right much faster (& best groups) with a healthy dose of 10X; but is rather dirty.

Looks like you are enjoying the little cartridge.

24" varmint contour McGowan SS 1/10" twist bbl. I could push them a bit faster, but at 3017 fps its all sub moa & VERY accurate to 400yds, & moa at 500/600yds. I have its perfect "nodes" for me.

Have recognized the futility of shooting a .223 at 1000 yds in F/TR. The 722 action was originally a .222 way back when. Have been thinking of rebarreling with a lighter barrel to 6x45 for coyote. This post may be just the push I need.

Well done.

Looks like you got them figured out! Hope to get some yote and bobcat hunting in next month on my trip to NC. Haven't nailed a cat since WY in '88. I use the FoxPro Scorpion with a external speaker and "Jack in the box".

Sounds like you got it worked out. I thought if you were still trying things; it is worth a try. I know the coyotes won't notice the extra ~150 fps (I was getting 3100 from a 20" & was one of the most acurate loads I tried, just too dirty in an AR) & of course if you were worried about speed you wouldn't have a 6x45 either ;)

At first look, the 6x45 seems quite diminutive, but it is pretty impressive when you get into it. Very versitile as you have shown. I have just about decided I "NEED" one in a bolt gun myself. That new Leupold 2-12x42 VX6 would be about perfect on a smaller frame calling gun too.

NICE DOGS. IS THAT ABOUT THE AVERAGE SIZE FOR COYOTES IN WY. ? I STARTED HUNTING YOTES 5 YEARS AGO AT NIGHT AND GOT TOTALY HOOKED. WE START MID-DECEMBER AND GO TO MID APRIL. I USE THE FOX PRO FURY AND IT DOES A GOOD JOB CALLING THEM IN. RIFLE USED IS A TIKKA WITH NIGHT VISION IN 223 WITH NOSLER BALLISTIC TIP THAT KNOCKS EM DOWN ON THE SPOT. IN NH AND MAINE OUR SHOTS AREN'T THAT FAR, MAYBE 50 -80 YARDS OUT TO 160 +.

Yes thats about as big as they get out here, every now & then a 40 lb coyote is taken.
I have one from last year that was 39lbs & it was very heavy on the fur, hanging on my wall now.
Ive gone through 2 furys/ 2 flextone ER1s/ 1 extreme dimension/ this Turbo Dogg caller, but still get better results from hand calling..
