1st hand loads .204 ruger

U may see if your gun will shoot 40gr bullets. Mine will but its a 1@10.Look at the 39gr bking bullet. U will like it. I shoot 35gr Berger hp with h4895. RL10 25.5gr with 39gr bking. But start 24.5gr and work up.

What is a 1st hand load suggestion for a 12" twist .204 Ruger.

What is your throat length? Some factory 204 Rugers have really long throats. And if it is a Remington don't necessarily believe the book twist for it. These can factor in to your desired load.

My reason for asking. I shoot 2 Rem 700's in 204 Ruger. Both are "supposed" to be 12T. One measures about 9.5T the other is 13+T. Both have long throats. Once I learned that I switched over the 40 gr in the 9.5T. Between the longer bullets that I could seat further out, and faster twist, I came up with some decent loads. PM me if you would like to see the loads I have tried. Even with the 40 gr bullets I still can't get close to the lands. I maintain at least 1/2 bullet diameter in seating depth as a minimum.

Jeep my gosh that much difference in rifling rate between the two rifles ? How do they shoot ? At Cabelas today I bought Nosler 32gr BT and H4198 . I haven't had any problems with Hornady Brass in my 6mm Creedmoor . I wonder how it is with the .204 ? Nosler is $48 Bucks for 50 Norma is $20 bucks for 25 . Hornady is $25 bucks for 50.

All my 204 rugers which i have 3 all with shot
Under .75 inch at 100 yards.
With varget and 40gr vmaxes
Here are my loads please work up to these
Hornday brass with 205m primers
28.4gr varget with 40gr vmax
28.0gr varget with 39gr sierra blitz kings
25.4gr benchmark 40gr vmax
25gr h322 with 40gr vmax
I just made it easy on my self and all 3 of my 204 will shoot the 28.4gr varget with 40gr vmax
What is a 1st hand load suggestion for a 12" twist .204 Ruger. Powder chg Bullet type. Paper target 100-300yds .

35GR BERGERS HP AND 30GRS OF VARGET FOR ME AND ITS HAS ALL WAYS DID IT JOB WELL !!!!:D:D

For what "you" are shooting at, short range paper, the 35 grain Berger would be my first choice. 7 1/2 primers, pick your prepped brass. Powder depends on YOUR gun. VV135, BM, 10X, lots more powder choices. I use 26.8g of 8208 and a 40Vmax in a 1-10 Shilen, getting 3800+ fps.

Traded that Howa in for a CZ-527 in 204.

You're going to like it a lot. I have the HB Varmint version CZ 527 in 204 and it shoots the 32gr Vmax into nice little .5 groups. I haven't had mine all that long and haven't even had a chance to work up a load for it but sighting it in and shooting it the little I have was with Hornady 32gr Superformance ammo and it shot that stuff extremely well.

The trigger in these CZ 527's is VERY tuneable. I have mine set at 10oz and I don't even bother with using the set trigger part of it now, didn't really like it anyway though.

I like RL10x and 32 zmax for sage rats, for prairie dogs I like the 40gr vmax. my buddy likes 39 sierra's but too much money for me, when you shoot 10,000 round a year I need to be thrifty (cheapo). I found a deal on the vmax's at $.07 each, so I need to shoot those

I found a nice deal on Hornady 32gr Superformance ammo factory ammo. Mine is also the CZ-Varmint version 25.5" bbl. I have also hand loaded some 32gr Nosler BT with H322 and H4198 . Gunsmith just finished with the bedding job. Reports to follow.

35g bergers

When I get around to it this will be the bullet I work up a load for to start with and I'm hoping these 35gr Bergers in 204 Ruger really likes 205M's and Benchmark because I have a near lifetime supply of both. ;)
