1ST F class match

I shot my first F class 3x600 match at Ft Meade. I had fun, learned alot about crazy switching wind and shot 525 5x. :D

It is good to hear that you had a great time, keep at it, your performance will keep going up.. remember your not competeting against all the others.. you have to compete against yourself first.

Thanks for the reply, I know that I was competing against my self because my wind adjustments were always a shot or two behind the current conditions, boy that was frustrating :o

Yeah, I know how that can be, truly.... when you look in the spotting scope, see condition, adjust for it, target goes down, you look in the spotting scope and the mirage is going the other way.. only say.. oooo boy.

A very Hardy Welcome aboard mate!

Glad to hear you got out and experienced a match. In the long run it will make you a better shooter, a better reloader, a better sportsman and a good friend to someone else that enjoys shooting as much as you do. Nothing better than spending the day with like minded fellas doing what you like to do.
Hope you enjoyed the day.

Tell us what your starting equipment was. Im sure there are a couple of folks reading this with the thought of giving it a go.

Hah ha! Your hooked now!! Welcome to a great shooting sport!!

Like RT said, whatchya shooting? Where ya shooting next? What kind of rifle are you going to build?

OK I just used my Savage tactical rifle, it's a model 10 FCP LE rifle .308 26" stock bbl with a NF F1 3-15x 50mm scope with MLR reticle, I put it in a Choate tactical stock I got used because the Accustock wasn't very stiff and it touched the barrel in a couple of places. I used a caldwell bi pod I got on sale at midway. I used Bryan Litz's Fullbore load the 155.5 Bergers going 2890 fps out of the Savage. This combo allows me to shoot 5 rounds inside of a 1" paster at 100 yards VERY consistently and was dead on at 600 yards for elevation using Litz's ballistic program regardless of my poor wind reading skills. :o

OH I took my two sons and got them hooked too, so now I have to setup 2 more rifles for them ;D

I'm still thinking about getting a dedicated F/TR rifle. I was thinking of getting a Savage F/TR rifle and a 12-42x 56mm NF but which reticle is best for this game ? NP-R1 or NP-2DD ?

I live in MD near Ft Meade and I just joined the rod and gun club there so I can shoot with the highpower matches there throughout the year. I plan to shoot 2 upcoming matches in Bridgeville DE on Nov 6 and 19th

If I can eventually I will try to work in a match or two down at Quantico IF I can survive the weekend traffic jam.

A friend of mine has four rifles to keep up with, his, his wifes, and his two daughters! What a nightmare into a pleasant sport.

Keith quit teasing.

Hank you might also think about Bridgevilles 600yd BR matches in factory class. Swap the bi-pod for a 3" sled and I'll let you use my rest.

If that's who I think it is, he's got a full plate and they are all "very" good.
