1st F-Class Match

Shot my very first F-Class match yesterday. 600 yds, 3 rotations of unlimited sighters and twenty shots for record, total of 60 record shots. I shot a 551 and 17X score. I felt pretty darn good having never shot at anythig at greater than 200 yds. Base line has been established and now I will work to improve my scores over the summer.Thanks for all the great info I get from you guys. The bug has bitten!

Congrats! Great showing for a first match.

600 looks pretty far after practice at 200... Must have a good load and good rifle.

I think that F-class shooting is one of the easiest rifle shooting sports to get involved in, requiring little extra gear to get rolling. Very rewarding, seeing those bullet holes appear in the 10 and X rings shot after shot at 600 yards too!

I'm shooting a box stock Remington 700 VSF in 308 Winchester. 175 grain Sierra HPBT Match. Leupold VX III 6.5 X 20 LR Target. Warne 20 MOA base and Warne rings. Cheap Midway front rest.

Question for you guys: This was an Any/Any match. Some of the competitors were shooting scoped rifles but not using a front rest, rather they were using slings. Others were shooting what appeared to be Service Rifles. The final scores showed them in different classes. What are those called and do any of you have some info? Those of us that used bipods and rests were called F-Class. Nobody was permitted the use of a rear bag. Next match is in July with a 600,Saturday) and 1000 yd match,Sunday). Thanks for the info.

I have to say. Reaper did very well for his first shooting at 600 yards. The winds in Byers,Co are very unforginving. THere were 6 flags out, 3 down each side and each one showed a differant direction and velocity as well as did mirage. Nothing matched.I have shot in wind before but it has been consistant but nothing like Byers.

I believe the other guys shoot in long range any sight/any weapon.

You did use your rear bag though didn't you? He let us this time but won't the next time. I think it is a bunch of crap especially if he changes to the 600 yard target for the 1000 yard match. For six hundred, it will be the 300 yard target.
