1st BR rifle results

Last summer, I purchased my first Benchrest file off the boards here, a 6brx ) and I FINALLY got to the range today to fireform the brass

First 5 groups:

I'm pleased - but you could see as the wind picked up,front comming through_. As I was only fire forming, I had no flags out - using an under packed rear bag, and a fixed front rest

All groups scanned and measured with On Target

The rest of the rounds were fired either as singles, or lrtting other folks try a benchrest gun

Sounds like you are going to have fun with this one. I like my BRX. It is a heavy bench gun,no taper, full bull barrel) but I have cerried to the deer stand a few times.

RE Deer Hunting with heavy rifles:

Sounds like me lugging my 12+ lb heavy barrel .308 into the woods every year. But it does shoot, and I don't go in that far.

It's fun to have the reputation of 'If you hear,KG2V) shoot, go help him drag out the deer - he doesn't miss'

One year, I see 2 deer, Buck and a Doe - and had permits for both, and I took both in very quick succession. One of my hunting partners walks up about 3-4 minutes later and starts to rag on me 'what, you missed?',I was hands deep at the time). I looked over at the 2nd deer and said 'Just go field dress the other deer, will ya?',which shut him up - but made for a very very short season for me, as it was about 9:00am on opening day)
