1987 New in the Box Remington 40-XB-H2 6mm Remington

Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum. Just imported a New in the Box Remington 40-XB-H2 Rangemaster Target Rifle. It is in 6mm Remington, 2oz Trigger, slotted action for stripper clip, repeater and 27 in Heavy Stainless barrel. There is also and order number on the box label. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a special order rifle or standard offering? Thanks!

From what I have seen, the box would be labeled as special order if it was different from the standard custom shop cataloged items.

Very nice!

Wow! Thats a rare one. Almost certainly a special order. Stripper clip cut out is the first I have ever seen on a 40X.

Hi distinguished,

So I would guess that someone just selected certain items of a tick list such as the 2 0z trigger, repeater, H2 barrel etc to make this gun up rather than it being a "Custom" order?
Thanks for your help. Just trying to work out exactly what I have.
Cheers

I believe the firearms from the custom shop were all "Special Order" , not just the 40X.
The order form covered m700s & Shotguns too.
In the 70s, Gopher Shooter's Supply may have been the only stocking dealer of 40X rifles?
I got three 40x from them.

My 243, friends 222 BR & a customers 222 Rangemaster, with a 2 oz trigger. All were single shot guns.
The 2 oz trigger would release the firing pin, on an empty chamber, when bolt was worked fast & hard.

Still have my 243 Rangemaster. It wears a 36x Leopold . Has shot under 1" groups at 300 yards with Berger bullets.
Ammo/Brass needs to be fully preped for benchrest, using Redding Fl Bushing S dies.

You have a great rifle, injoy.
