1911 22 pistol

looking for a accurate 1911 22 pistol
whats a good one?? dont need those real short ones but somwth full size and accurate

brand ?? model??

I use to shoot Bullseye and had several different 22’s and at the end settled on the Marvel (sp?) upper that goes on the 1911 frame. In Bullseye you need consistency and since one of the courses of fire is the 45 ACP you’re shooting the same frame/grip system. The company offers several different choices from plinking to unbelievable marksman accuracy and you can get any degree of accuracy you desire . Well worth looking into.

Marvel or Nelson 22 conversion on any 1911 45 frame (note: it must be a 45 or it will not work; the 9mm 1911 ejector is not compatible with conversions). I own both and I am a bullseye guy and they are fantastic products. I have not shot my S&W 41 since I got these. These uppers will shoot 1” or less at 50 yards with in my guns (not that I can shot that well).

Ciener Conversion works well for me, but not really a serious 'match' unit. Bought one years ago to swap the slide and barrel off of one of my 1911s so the feel would be the same. A friend later 'gifted' me with a 1911 frame that some idiot had hogged out the feed ramp. No matter to me since the conversion had its own feed ramp, Saves swapping slides and barrels now.

I had a Colt with adjustable sight a long time ago I used on a 70 series. It worked very well and was surprisingly accurate. It was in a Colt box like the 70 series came in. Traded it like an idiot. Probably at least 30 years ago.
Probably pretty scarce but I know they are out there. Gary

The Colt (factory conversions) are functional for casual shooting but not serious bullseye shooting. I have owned 3 over the years. Most of these Colt factory conversions have a floating chamber which recoils inside the barrel and closely duplicates the recoil of a 1911 with 230gr. Military Ball ammo since they were designed to train recruits with low cost .22 rimfire ammo. One downside to these units is that the floating chamber and the area it seats in needs to be cleaned often or the gun will lock up when the chamber fails to seat all the way into the barrel.

The Colt conversions labeled Service model and the original Colt Ace pistols labeled Service Model have the floating chamber. Straight Ace pistols and conversions have a conventionally chambered barrel and recoil as you would expect a full size .22 rim fire pistol to recoil.

If you want true target accuracy on a 1911 frame the Marvel and Nelson conversions are the way to go. Those conversions are set up much like a 41 S&W top end.
