17wsmag

I d like to see CZ and Ruger make a 17 Winchester Super Mag rimfire rifle. If its like a 17 Hornet rifle delivery we may not see a rifle chambered for the 17 w s mag untill some time in 2014.

First projections were the end of March beginning of April, however I've heard now that you'll start seeing ammo in April, and the guns closer to June.

Who knows with the market the way it is now.

I can't wait, thats for sure!

Go to the Grice's gun shop site they are taking deposits with May/June expected delivery. Grice's is a major wholesale and retail seller in Clearfield, PA. I will stick with reloading for a 223( My $0.02)

I've got one on order and hope to see it in the next 2 months. Hopefully we'll see ammo by that time too.

At the point I heard about it in January it was always a Q2 release of this year and that is when the ammo and rifle became officially available. I have had 3 in my hands since June 4th.

Now last year at this time I was buying 17 Hornet ammo every time I went to the shop. Just after Christmas the one I wanted showed up, a short time in layaway and just after February I brought it home.

Neither gun has been like the PMR-30

Well I have no need of the .17 WSM it was a want. When it comes to rim fire I have the bases covered with 22LR, 22Mag, 17HM2 & HMR. All my bases are covered with Varmint hunting with 22 & 17 Hornets and 204 Ruger. No need for a 17WSM.

With that being said, it is a pretty awesome rim fire and darned accurate too.

I held one of the savages today . I have to say it is a POS . I think my red rider bb gun has better fit and finish . It was very difficult to close the bolt , and I am not sure how I feal about the rear locking lugs . It had the smallest pencil barrel ever . I was expecting something more like the MK II .

The bolt is tough to close. Before I assembled mine I cleaned everything and lubed the bolt with synthetic gun grease, twice. Then I worked the action about 100 times. It made a huge difference. I can now close it easily with my thumb.

That pencil barrel was giving me extremely sub MOA groups today.

Once you get the rifle apart you will see fit & finish, it's all there.

i'd buy a 17wsmag if the ammo prices don't get 13.00 dollars a 50 like the 17hmr. I think that's the 17hmr's biggest downfall. I can reload 17 or 22 hornet just as cheap as buying hmr rounds.

The first Savage BMAG showed up at Bass Pro Shops in Council Bluffs, IA yesterday. I would agree with the comments about looking cheap, flimsy, and difficult closing bolt. BPS has been getting in a little of the 17WSK ammo; only 3 boxes in a shipment; maybe a dozen total boxes or so have come in during the last month. 50 rds of 20 gr retail for $15.99. Personally, I'll wait for a CZ version. Don

We got our first Savage BMags in the store I work at and have received 3 or 4 boxes of 25 grain ammo. The ammo is selling for $17.99 a box of 50. I do not like the Savage rifles for the a fore mentioned reasons, primarily the bolt. I read that 2 other manufactures are going to be making rifles but have never heard who. I tried looking up one at CZ site but have not found anything. I was looking forward to getting a 17WSM but I will wait for more options.

The bolt may take more effort to close than another rimfire since the Savage cocks on bolt closing. I think I'll wait for another mfg to jump in and ammo is easier to obtain.
