17HMR to 17AH?

I have a Anschutz model 1717 in 17 HMR, and would some feedback on the concept of having it re-chambered to 17 Ackley Hornet....

Rimfire to centerfire. Sounds like an expensive conversion to me.

The Hornet has a working pressure of 46,000+ psi. The 17 HMR working pressure is in the 25.600 psi range

I know that Anschutz has the same action (Model 54) chambered for 22 Hornet as I have one, but I really think that that pressure is way too much for the Model 54 action to shoot for long periods of time without a problem happening.

I would stick with the 17 HMR.

:You could sell the 1717 annie, and buy a Cooper in 17 AH, I have both, and think it would be foolish to ruin a good 1717, to maybe get a decent 17 AH. Just buy a Cooper in 17 AH and never look back!! I would never sell my Annie 1717, it's just to much fun, and super accurate!! Good luck!!

Not to mention the PSI differance the feeding issues and rim differance are large obsticles to overcome. Adam

Also, front lug action vs rear lug action; there's a lot of difference in how hot you can go, get the Cooper.

I have a Annie 54 in 17AH, 5 years down the road and I've not had a problem with it. Over the years I've conversed with several that have them with no problems. Not sure what issues we're supposed to have. Anyone out there with a Annie 54 in 17AH with problems?? Agreed it's not the easiest conversion as you have to thread the receiver but I've never heard of anyone having a problem with the pressure of the 17AH.
