Is anybody Shooting a 17BR yet?? I've read that people were building these. I'm a big 17 Cal fan!! I currently own all of the Factory 17's and a few of the wildcats. I love the 6BR also so I might be able to get my cake and eat it too!! Sounds like a barrel burner but I really don't care about that! Wanting to hear some real world reviews?? Thanks

I just chambered a 17BR in an xp-100. I've only got 26 rounds on it right now so I can't tell you how its going to work out.

Interesting for sure. If I were going for pure accuracy and still plenty of zip, I think I'd consider a 222 AI for the 17 and fast twisted. I'd probably have the bbl melanited if I went with the BR for this. It's gonna be a warm one.

It's very close to the 17-204R capacity. I have shot the 17Br and I say go the 17-204R route.

The 17s are fun! Since you like the wildcats, you may also want to consider a 17BR Short .200" or the 17 Athena (BR short .235")...still extremely fast and accurate.

I betcha it's a Zipper. I have a bunch of 6BR brass. I currently have 3 6BR's 1 22BR 1 20BR and a 6.5BR barrel on the way. I am trying to collect all of the BR based cartridges and all of the 17's also. It just sounds fun. I bet this thing is Amazing Accurate at close range (300 or shorter) and a heater!!

It is overbore, but it can't push a 30gr Gold 4100fps.

If you want it go for it, I get 3850 out of my Mach IV with the 30 Gold and it a really great bullet. Good luck with it.

Did you consult with Todd Kindler on this? I'd be curious of his comments on it. WD

Here's mine. 17" McGowen 8.5 twist. I made the brake and stock. 6-18x Leupold Vari-X II. 30gr HPBT bergers (discontinued), Varget, BR4's. Haven't run it over the screens yet.

I've got the form die set for the 17BR and have been kicking around getting something built to shoot it.

I'd like to see some velocities on these, I've got a 20br that runs the 39g at 4300, a 17 seems like it would be around warp factor 3.

I've also got a 17" 20BR barrel. It's only ever seen berger 55's and runs them at 3320fps.
