175 SMK jump or jam?

So I've shot through my old .308 rounds and I'm getting ready to load for a new Savage 10 which has been collecting dust since I picked up a 6.5CM. Anyway, The CBTO with 175 SMKs is 2.210 my old rounds for an old savage measure 2.219. Obv the chamber is a little tighter or it hasn't eroded over a few thousand rounds. QUESTION: are you just jamming the SMKs or do they like some jump like the 6.5 around .020?

MKs like a jump. What that jump will be in your rifle is for you to find out. I start in the lands and keep backing off .005 until i find it. The berger jump method works well but it is a little coarse for my taste.

Of course your powder charge will impact that too. Fine tuning a load is a big part of the fun for.me.

Thanks guys. Just wanting to see where to start. Im working around my old load of 42g Varget, LC LR brass, 210M primers. The old rifle was sub MOA without much workup just loading mag length at 2.800. The barrel on this one is 20" vs 24" but I should be ballpark. I have quite a few people using the same load with good results.

Almost every smk I have ever loaded shot better when jumped. My palma rifle shooting 155smk (2156) is jumping 45 thou and I can often shoot in the low to mid 190s at 1k.

Sierra 175 smk and 175 tmk jumped. 020 with Krieger and McGowan heavy palma 10twist barrels and 2011 fullbore reamer. Same for 155smk.
