17 WSM on a CZ action?

I don't have the dimension specs on the new 17WSM yet but do you think it's possible to build one on a CZ 452 or 455 action? I don't like any of the guns this caliber is currently being made in so looking to have one built.
Thanks

I THINK THE BOLT FACE WOULD BE TOO SMALL BECAUSE THE RIM ON THE HEAD IS THICKER THAN A STANDARD RIM HEAD I'M SURE 17WSM RIM HEAD IS LARGER OUTSIDE BUT U MIGHT HAVE ENOUGH BOLT FACE LEFT

Talk to Mike Hartman (13197502907). He has the reamer and two extra cz actions. He just finished another 17 Hornet Ackely Bee on one of the actions. He can send pics of recent build and dimensions. Hope this helps. Scot

Anecdotal reports state the this cartridge leaves a lot to be desired in the accuracy department. Anyone heard any different or actually seen groups?

The only group I have shot with my second BMag was just under 1" at 100 yards IIRC. The first BMag was lucky to get 1.5" @ 80 yards

Volquartsen has a .301" group at 100 yards posted on their facebook page using their new semi auto

Right, it looks like the new .17WSM rim is too wide for the current rimfire firing pin footprint. Gotta hit the rim of the case, not the center of course. Maybe it's possible with enough time and effort ($$$)? I have to admit, I'd love to see a CZ/BRNO-style action for the new round.

Very nice... but I'd like to see the rest of the groups too!

The outer part of the rim is not where the firing pin needs to hit. The ideal spot is inside of the rim where most of the conversions hit. Check out where the good RF BR guns pins strike. They hit inside for a reason.

I can play here...

Today I got back from the smith my H&R 17HMR that I had re-chambered to a 17WSM. The WSM cartridge is slightly longer and bigger diameter so its very easy and cheap to do. The gun cost me new 199.00 bucks. I put on a cheapie Pentax scope (mistake there) and tonight I shot in the new cartridge.

It's the one thing the Bmag isn't, accurate and repeatable. I got a half inch 4 shot group at 100 yards. The trigger pull on the H&R is not great and the scope makes me cross-eyed but its damn fun to shoot this little cartridge now.

The shot grouping between the HMR rounds and the WSM rounds is the same or better for me on the WSM. Not a lot different but slightly better.

I would suggest waiting a little while until some more info, and ammo, comes out on the 17 WSM. It seems that there is some problems with ammo uniformity and the quality of the rifles. Good luck though.

Savage has added a heavy SS barrel to their B Mag action and has put more plastic into stock. But I have not read about Savage making other changes to the action that would address the other complaints. With only Winchester making the 17 WSM ammo and Savage making the low cost rifles ,it may turn out like the Rem 5 MM rim fire bolt action rifles and ammo and be dead in a few years. I may be wrong but I think that it is unlikely that CZ or Ruger will be making a bolt action rifle for the 17 WSM round.

Right... you want the firing pin to pinch the brass inside the rim so the brass stops the pin, not crushing the rim itself and having the steel breech stop the pin (as I understand it). But the pin can be too far near the center too- and that is one of the considerations with this round.

You know all rimfire firing pins don't hit the same, maybe some would work fine. This reminds me, I don't think I've compared the firing pin hits from my CZ 452 to my other rimfires yet.

I agree, we'll see what happens.
