17 viper

Does anyone shoot a 17 viper? Id love to buy a piece of formed brass. I had one but lost it in one of my moves.

Wish I did, I'd give you one. Trying to remember who on Saubiers had one perhaps Ray H?

Matt I think it was Foxhunter on Saubier that did the Viper. About the time he was doing the Viper I had built a case the same size but with straighter walls and a 40* shoulder. I just ran my 17 Javelina Imp reamer in short. Don Krieble collected the various small calibers and he may have a spare Viper case or know where to get one.

Is the Viper basically a 20VT shortened at the shoulder with a longer neck?
Or just a shortened 20VT .050 necked down to 17 cal?

Its a 17mach IV with the shoulder pushed back. If I remember correctly they used rcbs dies that were trimmed at the bottom.

Aaron I bought a 17 Viper XP100 from SongdogHunter a few months ago . But I think the brass he sent me needs fire formed yet .

I can’t wait to shoot this one I saw it on Saubier several times . But I did not dream I would ever own it .

If forming new brass, give serious consideration to using 300 blackoout brass. It's shortened to near proper length and has factory annealing where it needs to be, which makes the cases easier to form.
