17 remington fireball

Dimensions are different. The Mach IV also has a longer neck, which offers more flexibility with bullet seating.

Look at the dimensions of the original Mach IV Wildcat, not the slickapedia version that depicts the Mach IV specifications that were changed to the FB specifications by Remington in 2007;)

the reamer prints show different dimensions. a mach 4 round will chamber into a fireball. a fireball round will not chamber into a mach 4. they are close but not the same,, disclaimer if my memory is correct

Exact same performance, 17m4 will fit in FB chamber, 17FB will not fit in 17M4 chamber, not sure of the longer neck statement off the top of my head but a longer neck is always a good thing.

Performance wise the two are the same.I think that's what Maddysdad was asking.I myself have stayed with the original 17Mach 1V,I like originals
I wish Remington would have stayed with it and also brought out a 20Fireball,if they did maybe the 17Fireball and its siblings could have sold enough guns and brass for the bean counters.I think there was enough interest, not sure why they orphaned it,I took a wait and see stance.Maybe all us Mach 1V shooters are the problem,we didn't buy enough factory guns or brass.Whats it take to make them happy, perhaps they were expecting sales like the 17HRM generated.

Too many different 17M4 reamer specs for Remington to use the original. Its a CYA situation legally for Remington, no other reason.

A 20FB would be nice but once again you have the 20VT which would be identical.
