In my custom barreled 17 rem, 6.5 Staball was a bit more pressure spike prone than H414/760 that I usually run with 29/30 gr bullets.

I recently loaded 400 223's with W760, 50 TNTs and FC USAF brass just to use up the 40 yr old 760. I'll use em for PDn.

I was only able to get 28.5g in the case for 2900+/- fps. I suspect the powder is deteriorated since I'm about 200+ fps short of expectation.

How much could u fit in your 17 Rem cases?

Thanks for the update. I see in an old manual that 28.5g H414 is max with 53g bullet. Hence my 28.5 W760 load above.

28.5 fills the entire neck in the brass I'm using and needs compression/vibration to settle. Makes for some difficulty using a Dillon 650 but doable by steadying the powder filled brass as it rotates to the next station.
