17 Mach IV case forming

Quick question. Can I neck down a 221 Fireball case down to 17 Mach IV in one pass?
I have 221 Fireball RCBS FLS die, figured I would run them thru it and than thru a 17 Mach IV FLS die.
Okay, I realize that is two passes, but let me know experiences.

Pretty big reduction for one pass. I'd worry about collapsing the necks. I take mine to 20 cal using a VarTarg form die then go th 17 from there. I've also used the Bullberry double ended form die. 20 on one end, flip it over and 17 on the other.

I agree, it is a pretty big step and I'll look into those form dies. Just checking to see what people have done, thanks for your input!

I used the seating die with the stem removed to do the first pass. Imperial wax was used to lube them.
The full length die was used as a second pass. No lost cases.

Mark, I would use a .20 Vartarg sizing die for the first operation.
