I liked 4198 in mine with 25 gr VMax. Shooting one time with Dan and Matt in Nebr. I ran 5 dogs in a row at just over 500 yds. Dan did a great job designing it.Long time 17 Killer Bee shooter, the brain child of DanC on the old Saubier board. I have always used low to mid 14's charges of RL7 in mine, and was curious what other powders people have used with success.
ABSOLUTELY ^^^Dan did a great job designing it.
PM SentThe Saunders book shows good velocities and accuracy in the 17 ackley bee with Rel7, 5744 and 4198.
When Dan did the first 17 Killer Bee, Kiff did the reamer and CH4D did the dies. When Dan showed the case on Saubier I had to have one. Kiff and CH4D filled Dan's order but made a few spares so I had no wait time. Always had a couple 17 barrels in the barrel bucket, and a few actions and several of my stock patterns so I was up and shooting in about 3 weeks. Doc Ed gave me great turn around. One thing not mentioned, there was a special logo on Dan's barrel, that was the icing on the cake. Michael my have a copy of it. It was used on the 17 and 20 version. I never did a 20 KB but bought a 19 KB reamer, just never did one. I had JLC convert the CH4D dies to bushings. The seater made a good neck sizer. Doc Ed made the Wilson seater from chamber reamer.I always wanted to do a 20KB and never did. 17 sure sounds fun. I did just see midway has hornady brass in stock. What dies do you guys use for this?
Mountdoug, from Saubier, made up some yellow Tee Shirts with the logo. He gave them to a small group of us PD hunters one year.Rayh
I always thought the “Killer Bee” logo was one of the best ever.

I would love to have access to all the information on Saubier again. I made some great friends via Saubier and there was a lot of very pertinent info on the website for small caliber aficionadosIt would be wonderful if they would move ALL of Saubier’s web site over here.
A ton of info over there there.
