17 hornet

Just ordered a 17 hornet ruger 77/17 ,what aftermarket triggers are you guys most pleased with, would like to be down around 1 lb. thanks Jeff Carroll

Not to bust your bubble, but I bought a 77/22Hornet a few years ago.. Shot like crap. Doing research it seems that Ruger uses a two piece bolt on that model which if it isn't shimmed properly accuracy is horrible.. That and the chambers may be cut sloppy. I sent mine off to the guy in Connecticut who specializes in Rugers and had him do his magic.. Shoots very well now. Not bench rest accuracy, but P-dawg accurate.. If it won't shoot it's something to consider.

Any decent gunsmith can tune the stock trigger to break like glass between 2 and 3 lbs. I've done plenty of them.

I have both the CZ varmint in 17 Hornet and a Ruger 77/17 Hornet. With factory ammo, both are extremely accurate. Out of the box, the CZ trigger is really nice.

I put a Volquartsen sear in the Ruger and the trigger is now acceptable.

I did have a bad experience with a Ruger 22 Hornet, just like the other poster. I sent it to CPC and spent another $275 to get it to shoot. From the factory, the bolt on my 17 Hornet is much tighter than my 22 Hornet was.

You will really like this caliber, it is devastating on ground hogs!

Thanks guys, gonna bed The action and relieve the barrel channel plus put a rifle basix trigger in it and try to tighten up the bolt with shims, that should adjust the head spacing but I don't know yet if it actually needs that
