17 Hornady Hornet

Has anyone had any experience with this cartridge or built a gun? Curious to see what your opinions are. I'm considering a build.

Talk to the guy`s over at Saubier.

I believe some have got reamers and done a few.

not hornady, but i have a pair of 17 k-hornets. one h&r the other a contender. both rechambered 17 hmr barrels. hornady is slightly shorter. i am shooting 20g hornady and berger bullets. average around an inch at 100 yd. 5 shot group. my difficulty is finger dexterity and those 17 cal. bullets.my solution was rcbs competition window die, makes it a breeze. most really like the 17 hornet. i settled on aa1680 for powder and ww for brass with rem 61/2 sr primers.

My H&R will put two touching, but the third shot kills my group. I made the mistake of not doing a trigger job on it before I shot it, and it has a 8lb.+ trigger pull. I just can't hold hard enough to shoot groups untill I do a trigger job. I knew I pulled every flier, so i think it may shoot as good as my .17 fireball in an H&R, which is about 5/8" with the factory loads. I have a PacNor super match coming for my Ruger with a straight .920, 22" long. My reamer has .003 neck and .003 body clearance, so it's a little tighter than most. I have Hornady dies and a set of Wilson blanks I need to ream, so I will be able to wring the Ruger out when the barrel gets here in about 15 weeks. :-\
