Mine would be the Anschutz also if they offered a suppressor ready modelI don't have a 17 HMR because I don't have a need for one. But based my 22lr guns, my first choice to try would be Anschutz, second Tikka, third CZ.
Or you could go custom.
My brother says that the 17 HMR (in the view of him and my dad) is just a "yiper cartridge". You shoot a Groundhog with it, then it makes a "yipe" noise and merely runs off
Lol, I never believed them, and for success, you need to be able to SHOOT. Rick is a known great shooter.Anschutz HMR Rockchuck Walkabout
Got a call last evening from my horse rancher neighbor lady asking me to come over this morning and thin out some rockchucks and sage rats. This is a bi-annual event for me, and I usually take my Cooper M38 20VT, but today I decided to take my Anschutz 1517HB in 17HMR. Most shots at this place...forum.accurateshooter.com
Haven't owned a Tikka, yet. So I can't provide any input on that. But I am a fan of the 17 HMR and use them mostly on prairie dogs. With reasonable or consistent wind, kills out to 250 yards can be easily achieved. But most of my shooting at them is 150 yards and less. I do have a couple of Bergara 17 HMR that are suppressor ready. I'm happy with them. I also have some CZ's (455 and 457) and those work well and can come threaded. I have had and sold an Annie 1717D HB and 2 Coopers that I sold because my CZ with a Lilja barrel shot better. Those (Lilja barrels) can come threaded as well.Thinking about buying a 17HMR tack driver that's suppressor ready, any suggestions?
Haven't shot any groundhogs with mine, none out here. But I did have a chance to shoot a coyote. He didn't yipe and run off.My brother says that the 17 HMR (in the view of him and my dad) is just a "yiper cartridge". You shoot a Groundhog with it, then it makes a "yipe" noise and merely runs off.

I think you have made a good decision. It is out of the box ready, both of mine are superbly accurate - they are definitely a "best buy" rifle. Simple trigger adjustment if you prefer it lighter, no need for a rail since it has a dovetail receiver, just mount a scope go forth and slay things. Thanks, fellas, great discussions. I believe i'm going give the Tikka a try
