17 cal and magneto speed?

I am wondering what y'all setting your magneto speed sensitivity to with 17 hornet or other 17 cal. I followed the directions and adjusted the sensitivity and 17 hornet is like 150 fps faster than the box and 17hmr is like 100 fps faster than the box too. All my 17 hornet hand loads are also 100+ fps faster than the book. I'm wonder if it's just coincidence and a couple fast barrels or an error. 17 hornet ain't exactly abundant, so I want to hear your experience before I start sending ammo into the berm. Thanks!

None of the published data was fired from your barrel. You can’t expect it to follow their data. I’ve got two 26 inch 223 guns and one is slower than the other. It’s normal. As long as you’re not seeing any danger signs, be happy. Faster would make me happier than 100 fps slower. Check it against distance after 100 yard 0 and see if the drop is relative to the velocity.

Accuracy trumps speed. I do look at FPS, but try to get my other numbers to the best I can.
