Is anyone familiar with this caliber? cant seen to find any load info. or even anyone who makes dies. Supposed to be a 22BR necked down case is all I can find.

a 17 BR would be way overbore and a barrel burner for sure
Just because it CAN be done, does not always mean its a good idea
With a standard 17. Rem. alone, i had to clean every 20-25 rounds just to stay on top of accuracy.
Could not imagine how much more often a guy would have to clean with a 17 BR.

As told to me by a long time 17 experimenter, if the powder charge weight is greater than the bullet weight, you have an inefficient barrel burner. His 17 jet could push a 25 gr Hornady hollow point hard enough they would blow up about 75 yards out. He was not a fan of the 17 Remington cartridge, but would drool over their 25gr HP bullets. He tried a lot custom and factory bullets and said he'd shoot them over anything made at the time.

I would have to agree a 17 Jet is about the perfect case size for a 25 gr .17
Here is one side by side to a 22 BR case

Don't forget the 17 M4, it should have case volume close to the 17 Jet. Michael (songdog) did a shorten 17 BR I believe. Maybe he'll comment. Blakes 17 Lil Nasty, a shorten PPC was spot on case design. The PPC is a much better case for a big 17 than the BR. Of course I have a soft spot for the 17 Jav Imp.

Yeah I would agree if going that extreme a ppc case may be a better suit
The 17 hornet is quite another fun little cartridge
I forgot about the Mach IV,
Some things are like taking a 50 BMG and necking it down to 6mm which we should keep in mind ya know
Sounds neat but...................lol is it worth the experimentation when we already know what will happen?
Now if shooting some copper solid 17's???
That may be a realm worth looking into for a 17 BR

I would ask Neil Jones about dies. I use his for my 17ppc and they are wonderful forming down to 17.
If Todd still made his 30 Golds I probably would have built a 17br after listening to Aaron's accounts of his.
Today for most of all my long distance small caliber needs I'd seriously consider the 20br,what exactly have you got in mind for a 17br,not trying to discourage you just curious really.
