165gr sst for .308win

I just started loading for my savage axis .308win with 165gr hornady sst bullets and H4895. anybody have load suggestions for the .308? I shot it today and it shot decent with 38.5gr and 39.5gr so I was plaaning on working up by .2gr from 38.5 to 39.5. Im also using the federal 210m primers

You don't need magnum primers, but whatever floats your boat. The 4895 should be as good as it gets. It looks like you are on the right track, so test each load until you find the one that you like. Varget and 4064 are also good choices that shoot well with 165-grainers in my rifle.

I don not like SST bullets. I have had way too much explosive behavior from them even at moderate velocities. I much prefer the Interlocks. SST would be a better pick if all shots are extremely long.

Yeah i have a bunch of match primers on hand because that is what i use for my 22-250 and 30-06 so i figured i would just try and stick with one primer for all of my larger primer rifles. I havent had time to sit down at the bench and start loading up more to work with but I'm planning on doing that sometime this week and shooting it again this weekend

I'll give it a try. What about the 165 grain gameking? anybody have any better success with it? I cant seem to get it to group under 1.5" at 100 yards.

It may take some time but don't discount the gameking.
Load development is sometimes frustrating, but positive results are a pleasure...
