165gr Hornady CX load ?

Hornady 11th Handbook shows the GMX,essentially the same bullet. Invest in one or the electronic version.
I got it but they list the same amount of powder for all their 165gr bullets. They did not do a individual test with each bullet. It was a waste of money the Hornady Manual. You cannot blanket a entire different style of bullets under one load recommendation .

Load manuals are just guidelines. They don't know our individual chambers, altitude, baro, and temps either. Anymore I just look at powders on the burn rate chart and load from experience. This last component drought has made me better at this too! :)

That’s the poorest Manual. Talking about lawyer written !
I decided against the 165CX in the 308 Win and decided to try it in my 300 Win Mag . It’s a long bullet.

Reading the manual it appears based on Hornady statements that the gmx guilding metal bullet does not increase pressure like a copper bullet will so the chart of loads is useable with all bullets listed. Nosler recommends reducing powder charges when using their gm bullets so who knows. It’s pro a good question to ask Hornady. I would if I were loading their gmx bullet.

These are the most accurate, lethal, and easy to tune bullets I've shot.

Light for cartridge, speed kills.

137gr Hammer hunter with the powders you listed at 2.760 crimped into the first groove behind the ogive. Don't worry about jump. They like a lot! They generally like tight neck tension.

Some suggestions:

Ball powders:

AA2520 50gr
TAC 50gr

Stick:

Varget
4064
RL-15

With the stick powders you can't fill the case enough to hurt anything.

With non lead core bullets I use a chronograph, I look for a velocity that is near a commercial load with the same bullet. And use 2000 fps as my max hunting range for the load, you want expansion.
