Otto, your wearing out your barrel for no reason. Listen to what the guys are trying to tell you. YOUR method is unnecessary. There is no way that anyone would shoot the two bullets at the same velocity in the real world.

I don't have to be a scientest to know that the 180 has a higher BC and will perform better at the same velocity than the 162s at a lower BC.

With what your doing it would be like asking you the time and you tell me how to build a watch!!!

Actually my method while not good for cartridges that eat up barrels-- does have advantages.

I've been able to come with in a 3% accuracy rate for determining the exact BC a bullet in fired from my specific barrel does have. Obviously, I did this as a science project on a .223rem-- so the barrel life is much longer than a 7mm RESAUM. Also this is a method you only would use normally for test barrels and other things. I would not suggest my method for testing outside of the laboratory.

In fact I plan getting a Ballistic Lab setup one day.

My comment was purely based on what would you do to really scientifically prove which bullet is better for a specific application. And that basically means as you test it you hold all the variables constant except for one and then move on to each variable. Then you can create a big table and figure out which bullet is better. I did it with factory ammo on my Howa 1500s Varmint Rifle back in college. It took about 4 x50 rnd boxes of black hills to really get the information I wanted. And what I was looking for was just how much difference in stated BC vs actual BC in my rifle at a specific velocity occurred.

I really like to shoot and win Regional or Statechampionships and Place high at the National Championships and sitting at the bech doing all that does not make me a good wind Reader,Position shooter, or coach.

Just sayin.
