16” factory AR, Uber dependable, accurate, ambi, what do you like?

Josh cleaning a piston gun over a DI is a breeze.
Break it open clean barrel/chamber wipe off BCG on a rag and your done.
No chasing all that powder residue in your upper.

Yup… that’s the enticement, but……..
I already have 5 of them in various barrel lengths and weights that I hardly shoot anymore because I don’t have the time. If I get a break, I’ll take my custom bolt guns.
I have my obligatory stash of SHTF ammo for them and with component prices the way they are, I hesitate to burn any of that up. I already know the guns shoot well if I need to grab one.
The Stag Varminter sees a little use because it’s heavy barrel prints small groups. The accuracy bug I have keeps me grabbing the bolt guns.

Piston operated = clean uppers & BCG , a little bit more $$ but a well built weapon with quality components and good accuracy.

Checked them out, watched a few videos. Some showed what features they have, they’ve been around awhile. Added to the list.

Along with LMT and DD. I wish I could find a DD R3 but it’s not available yet I guess.. One feature I’m after that a few of these mentioned don’t have is a ambi BCG release. I’d like to be able to use my trigger finger to manipulate that, just a personal preference. Lots of good stuff to research and today’s a good day to do it. Winds blowing, light snow on the ground, got a warm fire going and just made some biscuits with elk gravy.

i should add I’ve tried the mad lever for a bolt release you can use your trigger finger for. I didn’t really care for it although I know many guys love them.

I've got everything from Daniel Defense down to PSA Mk18s to 20in A2s can't go wrong with just about any AR now days for plinking if you want it for home defense I'd stick with DD LaRue colt G BCM ect if you want a range toy to play or hunt with PSA fits the bill.

I've owned everything from a PSA to a Wilson Combat. I've shot thousands of rounds through ARs, taken plenty of classes and even done some competitions.

Right now my favorite is my Colt EPR. Really just a 6920 with a rail and updated stock. The price point compared to LMT, LWRC, Geissele and others mentioned in this thread is hard to beat. They are all great rifles though. But I did have issues with my Wilson Combat

Now I mostly just shoot my EPR with magnified optics or A4 with a red dot. I don't use back up sights or anything except a sling.

I have a few AR15's and shoot them pretty regularly. I have had several over the years but currently mine are all assembled by me. I usually start with an Anderson lower when I find them on sale I'll buy a couple for future use. I usually spend my money on barrels and triggers, everything else I usually get whatever decent milspec stuff is on sale. Currently all my guns have carbine stocks but I'm going to put together a bench toy and it will have an A2 stock with a bag rider. I just make sure to assemble them carefully and have never had a problem. I'm still looking for a "favorite" trigger but accuracy wise my guns will shoot with any factory gun I've seen so far. I have no experience with piston guns but I plan to change that in the near future. If I were going to buy a factory gun I would probably look pretty hard at Larue or Wilson, maybe Odin Works. My hands down favorite AR15 cartridge is the .277 Wolverine.

Definately buy a complete rifle from a reputable manufacturer. Lots of gun plumbers will build you a rifle and save you some money until it doesn't work. I have been pleased with the Rock River firearms I have bought and also would look at Wilson Combat or SigSauer.

Thought I’d throw out an update. I ordered a POF minuteman and a LRWC DI-Ci, couldn’t find a fair price on a ADM mod 2 but when I do I want to try one, I like the controls. I also have an Elcan 1-4x, quality red dot and a 3.5x acog inbound. Like I said from the start, I just want to have some fun and find a couple ARs that fit the SHTF category. I appreciate all the input.

Hope DD gets their R3 this year, I’d like to try one too. There’s so many good ARs, we’re spoiled. The ones I’ve built myself have never given me anything but great results, I still have three in 223 wylde and three in 300 BO. The next one I build will be a heavy barrel, I have everything I need but a barrel for that project but that’s not happening anytime soon.

I've had, NO "Issues" with Jam's, etc. and I mainly use, Re-loads with my, 16", 1-7 twist, Adams Arms, AA-15, Piston Rifle and as, a "Lefty" , the Gas, DOESN'T go, into, the action,.. OR,.. my Face !
From 55 gr. NBT's to 69 gr. SMK's ALL loads shoot, Sub, 1 MOA for, Me !
Bought, the Geiselle, SSA, 2 Stage Trigger,. and that, Make's, a BIG, Difference, on any AR !
Also Bought, a Witt machine, SME ( a Blast Forwarding, device with, internal Brake ) and "could" shoot without, Muffs / Ear Plugs, if, if, IF, I absolutely, had to !
