155.5 berger 308 load data

Palma rifle should be back in a week or two from getting rebarreled from a 6BR. Have a large quantity of the 155.5 Bergers, anyone have load data they'd be willing to share? It's a Bartelin 5R 30' 1-12 with the 2011 team reamer. Plan on using Lapua brass and I have Varget and RL15 on hand as of now.

I have had good luck w/ Lapua Palma brass, any small rifle primer, 46.5-47 gr. Varget seated off the lands .020" - .050". OUt of a 32" barrel I am getting 2970 fps in cold weather, 3050 in hot. Much more accurate than I can hold.

With re-15 I would start around 42.0grains up to 47 hrains.Dont start at the top, always work up and see what your rifle likes. 46-47 grains of varget is 2 to 3 grains off the chart. Hornady suggests the hottest load is 44.9.Now we all know that it is somewhat conservative, drop that charge by at least 4 grains and go up carefully.Safety first and accuracy will be evident as you increase the charge.Look for pressure signs and measure the cases for expansion.I only say this because I have used the top loads from this manual and in certain guns it is to hot.

I used 155.5 BTs over a stiff charge of H4895 with BR-2s in Lapua cases for F/TR for a couple of very successful seasons. Gave me slightly better velocities and vertical than Varget did.

I shoot Berger FULLBORE bullets in my tactical rifle. Lapua brass and 45.4 grains IMR 8208 XBR produces ~2990 fps from 26". The load has extremely low ES and is very accurate. My barrel has a Palma '95 chamber.

I have the same barrel also and 46.0gr. of Varget averaged 2965fps with single digit SD. I run 2156's at .020 jump.
Gotta love a Palma rifle, so easy to load for.

I'm hoping this is pretty easy to tune, with me shooting Moly, how much more powder should I need to reach the 2950-3000 mark? I was think start at 45.5 and work up. Now I'm just waiting for it get back. Ive been Getting brass preped over winter break, stocking up on primers and powder, etc.

When I seen this topic heading the first powder that come to mind was H4895. Though it looks like Varget is giving it a run for its money.

Russel Simmons used H4895 to win the F Class World Championship in 2009. Along with 155.5 BT's...
