14tw Will Not Stabilize 69gr Bergers

Has anyone used the Area 419 drop tube? I have the funnel set. Do you have to buy three of the drop tubes to get nine inches. They seem to be only 3 inches long. Don’t know that one three inch drop tube will help much.

I have one. Its not much help and when he started posting here he wasnt too interested in making longer ones. I guess he doesnt need one. A 3” drop tube is equal to no drop tube.

About .860" or so is maxing out a 14twist from my experience

On another note
29.8 and even up over 30 grains of some lots of 133 are common loads.
Looking for 3350 to 3380 or so hits a good velocity node

Shot 29.4 5 shots group. Velocity 3333. Group had very little vertical-mid 2s.

Loaded the last seven pieces of brass at 29.6. Avg velocity 3362. 6 shots Round .17. 7th took group to mid .3s.

I will step up to 29.7 and 8 to see what velocity and groups look like before I work with seating depth.

PIA tapping the case to load N133. Got to get a drop tube.

Had a little time and decided to load and test the 12 pieces of Norma 6ppc brass that I have reloaded 8 cycles. The primer pockets on 6 pieces are not as tight. I backed down to 29.2gr N133. Wind 5-15mph.

I shot t foulers and the shot the 12 Norma rounds at the same target non stop. The first five shots low 1s. The first 4 in the same hole. Forcing that fifth shot a bit. The next seven opened the 12 shot group up to about .26 but there were no fliers. 29es 3317 avg fps.

Had heavy bolt lift with two of the shots. Primer pockets toast. 4 of the others not far behind. The Norma brass was new. I had used Lapua brass fired unknown times that I used for foulers and the pockets are still tight.

I will use the rest of the Norma but will not buy any more. It is as accurate as the Lapua but the primer pockets are not as stout.

read boyds method above. he means slow. if you cant drop it slow at least stop 3 times to let it settle as you drop the powder.

Youve found why we dont use norma brass in the ppc world

Yep. Amazing difference. But, I see no difference in accuracy. Just will be chunking the Norma as the pockets get lose.
