140g in 6.5 Grendel.

Case volume is really effected by the longer 130-140g bullets. I would go up to to a 6.5x47 before attemtpting 140g bullets in a 6.5 class cartrige. Essentially its a 6.5PPC and they are well suited for 80-123g bullets. I stick with 100-123 and have loved the cartrige.

If hornady would make a 6.5 SUB-X bullet that expanded at 800-1200fps i could do some wierd shit with the grendel.

Good luck. Its not advised but based on my trials 25g 8208 XBR should be a good starting point but as always use at your own risk. There is a reason you wont find data for this combo.

I shoot 140 gr bullets in my 16" barrel on my contender
I load it with 19.0 gr of IMR 4198
It's deadly accurate and lethal on turkeys
I also shoot the Grendel in my Encore with a 24" MGM custom barrel

I use H380 and 100 gr. bullets with this one for amazing results
Since the 6.5 Grendel was developed for use in the AR-15, I don't suggest that any of the loads I use be applied to gas operated firearms. They just work great in my equipment.

I’ve gone to 100 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips in my Grendel. They perform great at 2600 MV. Took a doe at 220 yards recently and dropped her on the spot. I like the flatter trajectory of the lighter bullet.

I too, started out using 140 gr bullets in my Grendel shooting, mainly because that's what I had on hand for my Carcano. I was pushing them with 19.0 gr of IMR 4198 (per recommendation of Alexander Arms)
But since my decision to go lighter (100 gr) I've found the perfect balance of speed and weight. The use of the old H380 powder has opened doors for accuracy

Best bullet ever .ade for the grendel was the hornady 123gr Amax. I stock piled em years ago. Anything heavier than that the cartridge doesnt shine. Its probably my favorite round. 8.75 twist is THE twist rate for 123gr bullets. Figure your twist rates based off that.

I shoot from 90 grain to 140 gr in my Grendel's, have 3 of them..
For hunting whitetails and hogs in the woods, the 140 gr nosler partition is my favorite!!
In a 16" barrel there is not much difference in speed between 120gr and 140gr.
If you check the energy charts, you might be surprised at what you find out about the heavier bullets.
When I plan to shoot over 150 yards I take a different gun.
