140 vs 142 SMK

I have a 6.5/308 that I bought off of Doug Koenig that I guess he shot the Master's with. He gave me his load recipe for the gun with uses the 140 SMK.

Is there any advantage of the 140 vs 142 or vice versa?

That depends on what you want to do with it. Sierra lists the 140 MK with a 0.535 BC and the 142 with a 0.595 both above 2800fps. That makes a differance at long range. Again it matters what you wish to do. I have shot a lot of both, and have applications for both bullets.

Just curious...what can the 140 SMK do that the 142 SMK can not do ? The higher BC will surely make up any difference in velocity...but why does Sierra make the 140 gr...I have three 6.5s...
260 & 260 AI heavy LR/varminters..they really like the Nosler 140 Comps...
6.5x55 T3 Tikka field weight rifle..Nosler 130 ABs

I have found that in my military Swedes the 140's work somewhat better. They seem to tolerate jump better, and with the long throat of the military rifles that helps. Also, the boattail is shorter, and that lets me seat them out further than the 142's.
