140 hybrids at 1K Tuning

How's it compare to the lighter bullets at 1k? I'm getting excited for my LG/HG 6.5x47 to be finished!

Nice shooting James! I've been following your threads as I work up a load for my 6.5X47 with the same projectiles. What is the length of your barrel? Also, how far off or into the lands does your Base to Ogive measurement of 2.131 represent?

I have been testing between 39.8 and 40 grs. H4350 with seating depths from .004 to .009 OFF the lands. For my chamber, .005 off the lands has a Base to Ogive measurement using the Hornady OAL gauge of 2.1275". I shot a small 10-round test at 600 using a shotmarker and shot 5 Xs and 5 10s. The group looked so good that I shot the remaining 10 rounds at 100 expecting to be amazed. Instead, the groups were terrible at about .7 MOA. Back to the drawing board for me. 40 grains of H4350 gives me 2825 FPS out of my 27" Douglas barrel using unturned Lapua brass and CCI 450 primers and a .287 bushing. I do run a mandrel through the neck after sizing.

Thank you for your thoughts,
Henryrifle

Very nice. On my last barrel I ran 40.0 gr H4350 until the barrel slows then bump up to 40.2 to maintain velocity.

Nice shooting James . Barrel seems slow .... I’m tuning 6.5x47 and running same load as yourself 40.0-40.2 / H4350 . 31” barrel gets me 2830-2850 with 140 hybrid . I’ve only been to 650 with load but looks pretty good .
