130gr 6.5 bullet alternative

was out the past few weeks shooting my 8 twist 6.5 creedmoor rifle, Savage model 10T. was trying the 140 SMK, 142MK, hornady 140eld and the 143 eld and the 147 eld. nothing really grouped well at 200 maybe an inch on some fluke groups, i happen to have a few Bergers 130 vld hunting match grade bullets, they shot excellent, only have a few left, they are costly, looking for an alternative bullet to try in the 130gr, going to try some sierra 130gr TMK next week, any other bullets i am missing to try that are not 50 bucks a box. looks like this barrel like the 130's by far.

Hornady has a 130 eld also

I've shot nice groups with the 129 SST and 130 ELDM, but they are not as tight as with premium bullets. Have not shot the 130 TMK but I imagine it's a bit more consistent in the weight and length department compared to the hornady.

The 168 TMKs shoot very well in my 308. The 168 Amax shot about the same. The hornadys cost much less tho. I find in most of my rifles, the Hornady ELD or Amax shoot as well as any of the other low drag bullets I use but at half the cost. Not competing or shooting for score, the results are all the same for me. Dead animals.

Another vote for the Normas. They're pretty consistent and have an excellent BC for the weight.

Agree the Berger 130 AR Hybrid could be good, but try a few different Berger 140s before you give up on them, especially if you are shooting longer ranges. My 65 AR likes the Berger 140 Target Hybrids. Berger bullets becoming available again finally, found some in stock a few different places today.

The verry reason I'm redoing my 06' load.
Twice as many hornady's for less money than partitions.

Hornady 130 ELD M seating depth test this evening in a 6.5 x 47 Lapua, Savage 112 action, 28" Shilen barrel.

It's running a little slow at 2820 but hard to argue with the groups.

The berger 130 AR hybrid's are easy to tune . I've have had very tight groups with Hornady 130 eld's Also . Hornady 123gr ( $25 per 100 ) is a fun easy to find load for with Varget powder. It's also a great alternative load when you can't find unobtainium powders .

Well....no. I've tried to just "shoot for fun" and not worry about some details.:( Yeah, I know. Kinda stupid.:( I picked up a Magnetospeed off the sale board during the winter and I'll be using it this season, on everything.;) I try not to run hot loads and push my brass. Most of my shooting has been limited to 100 yards. I joined a new range that goes to 600 so I'm upping my game. New chrony, target cam, Bergers, Redding and Whidden dies, etc. It's getting darned expensive!..........but FUN!!!!!:)

Well it is healthier than needing to pay 70-100 bucks an hour for professional counseling.
