13 yr old ruined at Dasher DOME, first shot kill @ Chuckie @ 800 yd

birdog

DASHER DOME
Gold $$ Contributor
Shayne brought a young friend Bryson Haliburton, over to the DOME today for his first taste of long range.
Junebug started young Bryson out at 700 yards on a hostage taker clapper / hostage silhouette. Bug killed the
hostage taker 3 or 4 times without hitting the hostage. Then he turned the Defiance 6 XC on bi-pod over to Bryson.
Bryson hit a few inches to the right of the head in dirt. Then we told him to hold left and he may have hit hostage in
neck. Next shot he went on sighter target and got zero. Next shot hostage taker was history.

After having a zero at 700 yds. Junebug dials the scope elevation to 800 yards. Bryson is going on the 800 yard ground hog,
Ole Chuckie with no sighter and makes first shot kill on Chuckie

Defiance action, 8 twist Bartlein,
Quigley-Ford caliber dedicated scope

When my son was old enough, we started shooting together. First rifles later handguns. He enjoyed it more than I thought he would so we started shooting 3 gun matches together.

After graduating high school, he joined the Marines. While qualifying, the range officer asked where he learned to shoot, he said my dad taught me. He was in the Marines for 9 years and joined the army to fly blackhawks.

While going through warrant officer school, he had to qualify again with a rifle. Again the R/O asked where he learned to shoot and he said my dad taught me. After going through all the training, before his first deployment, they had to qualify with handguns as well as rifles. He excelled in both and was again asked where he learned to shoot and he told them, my dad taught me.

I was on the base one day with him and was talking with some of the guys when a couple of the R/O's came over to me and introduced their self. After talking a while, they took me over to one of the ranges and got to do a little shooting. What fun.
