12 gauge Loads

Any good 12ga loads to share, esp with Hodgdon Clays or "Universal"? I'm using #6 shot and I have a decent amount of Winchester AA wads and Federal wads.
Thanks in advance!

In general, the clays will be good for lighter loads (7/8 oz to 1 1/8 oz) and the universal for heavier (1 1/4 oz). But look at the Hodgdon website for the specific load data, and follow that.

I run 1-1/4oz of #5’s over Universal in AA hulls with WAA wads. Run them at 1200 fps. Devastating performance on birds. Like everybody else said check the Hodgdon website. Lots of good combos. Best to pattern and pick your best load.

Those wads are not interchangeable. AA's should work with most tapered hulls, Federal with most straight hulls. As suggested, get your recipe from the source and verify wads, primers, etc.

Loaded up a few 8# jugs of Clays in 12ga. in RXP hulls when I shot trap years ago. Mostly 1oz. loads to save my shoulder. Can't take any recoil now. Nice, clean burning powder.

For sure follow Hogdon's advice.
