12 Caliber jacketed bullets?

Is anyone on here still making 12 caliber jacketed lead core bullets? I’m fighting trying to reduce jackets to 12 caliber and wanted to check here for information rather than reinventing the wheel.

I reduce a lot of jackets down to 14 caliber but reducing jackets down to 12 caliber has been a challenge. I'm hoping someone on here might have already found a way to complete it with better results.

Thanks for any information you might have,

Carl C.

The 14 caliber was made years ago...don't know anyone doing it now. The 12 caliber is something I've never heard of. Corbin makes dies and swaging equipment. Maybe a custom order in 12 caliber? If ya can't find them, you could use lathe turned bullets in copper or machine the jackets out of pure copper...22 caliber jackets were made out of 22 LR brass yrs ago...cheap practice jackets. Also easy to make brass bullets .125 brazing rod ... dependin on the precision you want. What case is used for your 12 caliber?

I believe Reed still only sells solid copper 12 caliber bullets. I try not to run solid copper bullets through any of my small caliber rifles. They are way to hard on the tiny rifling's and performance of solid copper bullets at high rpms is usually a bad combination.

The 14 calibers I'm shooting are usually spinning at 450,000 to 480,000 rpm's when I go up over the 4800 fps range. On the high end of the bullet speed range they are well over the 500,000 rpm and shooting solids at those levels is guaranteed barrel fouling even when heavily coated.

I've talked to both Corbin brothers about making 12 caliber dies a long time back but neither one was jumping at the chance to make them for me. The small dimensions on the dies are challenging and time consuming to make. Blackmon dies were also hesitant to take my order for dies.

I think if "The Old Redneck" is still on this website he still has a set of 12 caliber dies. I'm not sure how many other folks on this site shoot the small calibers.

Thanks for any help you can provide,

Carl C.

Some time back Jeff ( I think ) Lawerence, the sub caliber barrel maker I believe was making some, mostly for the guys necking down 22lr cases to shoot.
