115 Berger's

Has anyone tried the 115 in a Dasher, I have a couple of Dashers with 8 twist tubes on them I have been thinking about trying them in.

With the 8 twist I think you`d be better served to try the Dtac 115. Those shoot fine in an 8 twist Dasher 1/2 MOA @ 1000. The Bergers require more spin.

RL 15 would be my first choice, from a speed/pressure standpoint. Varget is awesome too. I would try both. I have settled on Norma 203-B, at least for now, as my go to.

Terry, Berger suggests a 1 in 7' twist for their 115 VLD bullet. Having said that, they shoot rather well in a 1 in 8' twist barrel, at the right speed,2900-3000fps), quite achievable with your Dasher.

On a sour note, pushing the envelope 2975-3100 fps in a Krieger 4 L/G, 1/7' barrel will buy you a few blown bullets. A shame, because accuracy was spectacular. Oh, and btw, moly or non-mollied, the results were the same.

I will be testing now with a couple of Bartlein, 5R, 1/7.7' twist, 31' barrels. Blown bullets should stop, let's hope.....

Good luck,

Andy

I have been playing with RL-17 and 115 Bergers in a 6X47 Lapua and a 1:7 twist Krieger. I have broken 3100 no problem, but the accuracy just kept getting worse the faster I pushed them past 2900. From .3 MOA to ~3 inches.

Likewise, I had tried 105's in the same barrel and had them to 3250 with room to spare, but again, accuracy sucked. They bug-holed at 3000 though.

I tried it and it didnt work for me, however i only have a 26'tube and the South African powders is pretty limited. The 115DTACs however did workbut the 108Berger still outperforms it all for me.

1:7' twist is a bad twist for 6mm's - too tight for sure - I don't know why Berger even recommends it,they shouldn't - probably rounded down to the next fastest whole number for the twist recommendation). I am certain no one at Berger did any significant testing with the 115's in 7' twist barrels or they would not have made that recommendation. 7.5' twist is great but 7' is right at 'the point of no return' - been there, done that - got a few 7' twist barrels that are tomato stakes.

I shoot a 243 set up for 115 bergers. A broughton barrel and a 7 twist that shoots 5'@ 1k for 10 shots and I have numerous targets practicing of 5 shots under 3'. At 500 yds it shoots 1-1.25' when I do my part. I'm only running them at 2850 fps and everything seems to work well for me.
