110 action problem

I have a 110 that I purchased 2nd hand and had a rifle built on. It has a Jewell trigger and a douglas barrel.

The problem is when I fire the rifle and then cycle the bolt back to eject the casing the small button on the bolt slips to the left and has to be manually turned to the right (clockwise) so I can close the bolt. I cannot find an exploded view of the bolt to give the actual name of the part. The rifle doesnt slam fire and this happens only when the bolt is open and not on a consistent basis. I have been told that the main spring may have been altered (weakened).

Thanks for the Help

The round disked shaped thing on the right rear side of the bolt (as viewed from the back) is the cocking piece. There is a detent at the top of the cocking cam (the cutout in the bolt body below the head of the cocking piece) that is supposed to keep the cocking piece from falling while the bolt is open, or out of the rifle. It may be that someone has lowered the lip of this detent in an attempt to reduce the effort needed to open the bolt. If this is the case, the detent can probably be slightly deepened, with a little careful work with a Dremel tool and a stone, by someone who really understands how the whole bolt and trigger work.

Here is a 110 schematic

Brownells carries the parts skroll down

Call stockade stocks and talk to kevin rayhill ,he has a bolt lift kit they will resolve the problem. Also change the firing pin spring. These are fairly cheap parts.

Bet it's a Timney trigger......

You should take the bolt apart and adjust the spring a half turn and try it, maay have to do it a couple of times.

After you get it apart you may find a broken spring......

I too would like to see a picture of a Savage with a Jewell trigger so I can see how it attaches. Never heard of a Jewell on a 110.
Thanks

Kenny
