110 A-Tip in a Dasher?

With Berger 105gr Hybrid just about impossible to find, I've decided to try some Hornady 110gr A-Tips in my Dasher (1:7.5 twist Criterion). My go to load with the hybrids was 32.3 gr of Varget. Wondering if any of you have had much experience with the 110 A-Tips in a Dasher? Would appreciate hearing what loads you are running (Varget, H4350 or other), how much jump they like and your general experience with them.

Thanks!

I haven’t shot them in a Dasher but they have performed very well in my .243’s. The 115 DTAC. coated, has been my favorite 6mm, and these are shooting right with them, and both are competent at 1,000.

When I started with the 110, I seated deep and jumped them considerably, as I had already seen that A-Tips shoot tighter groups that way. (Hornady says A-Tips aren’t sensitive to seating depth). This worked for me and I haven’t experimented with touching or minimal jump, so I can’t comment one way or the other about that also working with them.

I hope you supplement with how the shooting is going and what you think of them relative to your hybrid loads.

I have shot a lot of them in my Dasher. They are very, very consistent bullets. They shot best for me at 32.5 grains of Varget and 32.0 grains of RE 15.5 seated at the lands. Lapua brass, CCI 450.

I have also shot the 190 A-tips in a 284 Win. In the 284, my rifle wouldn't shoot them close to the lands. They shot best about 0.060" off. Different rifle different likes.

I shoot the 110's in my 6CM. A couple things I have to say about the the A-tips...1) They are very consistent in weight and ogive, to the point that I don't bother weighing them anymore. 2) They were very picky for me with seating depth. I had to seat them pretty far off the lands to get the results I wanted. I don't have my load book on me, but I want to say I ended up like 0.070 off the lands.

I like them, but if I could get a steady supply of hybrids, I don't think I'd shoot the A-tips anymore. They are just too expensive in comparison and the difference in performance (if any) doesn't justify the cost difference imo.

I had a similar experience with the 190 a tip vs the Berger.
I went back to the Berger’s.

The 110gr should work great in a 7.5” twist. My girlfriend’s 6 dasher shoot Berger 109gr hybrids at 3025fps with 33.3gr of RL-15 with bullets seated at .015” off jam using .0035” neck tension. Brass necks turned to 11.5 thou in a .271” neck and .128” freebore.
Hope that helps. Personally, A-tips have shot well for us in the past but they are just very expensive and never outshot the Bergers for us.

Where? I check shooting bot pretty much every day and haven't seen any in stock.
FYI those shooting bot and similar sites suck. They are only searching a handful of sites. Can't remember which site i seen em on but it was more than one. I check midway, natchez, grafs, powder valley on a regular basis and sometimes creedmoor sports. Must have been one of those.

So far with any of the A-tips I've tried in 6mm 6.5 mm and 308 have left a lot to be desired. But anytime I have to work harder to get a bullet to shoot good it is always a Hornady. Never fails.
Hornaday has always been a good accurate hunting bullet for me but for competition Berger and Sierra are the only factory mass produced bullets that have worked well for me, other than those two it’s custom bullets.

I used to be a Hornandy bullets fan boy but after the 147 and 180 ELD issues and seeing a few other issues with other shooters and bullets I’m down to shooting only the 75 BTHP’s bullets anymore.
