108gr ELDM 2 Piece Jacket?

While seating some 6mm 108ELDMs, a rough spot in my seater plug grabbed the jacket and literally tore it in half.

Took me awhile to figure out what happened when I noticed a distinct line around the jacket that I had previously assumed was a mark left by my plug. A search yielded several more exactly like it.

These were part of a batch of "factory seconds", bulk packaged from Midway. The visible line is probably why they were rejected. Dimensions are same as retail, and they shoot better than any other bullet I have tried, so apparently this flaw is purely cosmetic.

I post this just for information purposes, and would not hesitate to buy them again.

Polished out the burr in my seater plug, problem solved.

Those seconds look like PULLS.
Does your seating stem hit that low on the bullet?

Puller collets usually need to be on the straight bore diameter of bullet to pull. On the taper it just slides off.

Some of the are pulls. They did not come that way. I had previously loaded them.

This is NOT the result of PULLING! This was stuck in a SEATING stem.

FYI, I use a kinetic puller.

The seating stem mark is not visible in the picture. It's well above the point of separation.

Yes, but it's only a small number. I don't have enough left to guess at a percentage.

The photo makes it look deeper than it really is. Hard to see if you're not looking for it.
