108 ELD-M and 6BR?

I've been shooting Berger 105 Hybrids and Hornaday 105 A-Max out of my 8 twist 6mmBR. Shot the last of my A-Max's last week, and of course can't find more. They were a pretty good value as far as accuracy vs cost, however I only shoot for fun so the custom made bullets are not in my future.

I bought a box of 108 ELD-Match to try out but can't find any load information. Anyone tried them?

Anyone?

Bueller?

Here awhile back I got a wild hair to try em in my BR just to see if they would show any promise. I went 30.2 of varget and I believe .010 jump. Five rounds just hundred yards was a little under 1/2" and haven't got time to try any more but definitely showed promise. Try em and post what you find. I'd be interested.

Thanks, Eagle. Or should I say Double Eagle?

Loaded some up today, 30.0 grs. Varget and three rounds each varying from .020 off to .010 in the lands. We'll see how they shoot this week at 200 yds. Then work on charge weight, and finally neck tension.

Well I may not have to work the load much more after the seating depth study. 30.0 grains of Varget and the 108 ELD-M seated .010 INTO the lands printed a .252 moa three shot group at 200 yds. and that's about all I can hold consistently with a bi-pod and rear bag.

The .005 IN group shot second best, but I pulled two so I didn't get a good measurement. The group set to touching lands shot much worse....so IN it IS.

For those inquiring minds, Savage Model 10 action, X-Caliber 28 in, 1-8 twist SS match chamber, no neck turn .272 neck, throated to seat 105 Hornaday BTHP Match with heal just forward of neck/shoulder. Bobby Hart (Stockysstocks) Stock bedded using Devcon 10110, Savage Target Accutrigger set as light as I can, Harris bi-pod, Caldwell rear bag. Lapua brass, RCBS Gold Medal dies with .266 bushing producing .003 neck tension (probably too much for seated into the lands) and Vortex Viper HS 6-24X50 scope, EGW 20 moa rail, Warne medium rings.

I got some velocity data from the last shoot, 2830 fps and ran that through the Berger Stability calculator, not so good. Even if I can get the bullet up to 3000 fps, I'll only get to 1.49 on the SG scale. At 2880 it's down to 1.46

Am I chasing my tail with this bullet in a 8 twist? Berger suggests a 7.5 twist however, I've read that it's better to only spin as fast as you have to for best accuracy.

Next range session will try 30.3 and 30.6 at .010 IN the lands. Will report back findings.
