Anyone using the Bergers on goats?

I'm thinking of getting a gun rechambered to a Dasher and use it for a goat gun at long(er) ranges. 400+ yards.

Whats the verdict? Good killing bullet?

Probably as close to a perfect combo as you could use on Antelope.
I was a Barnes guy for many years but the Bergers work as advertised.
I started using them when I couldn't get Barnes to shoot out of a gun.
And have used them with excellent results on Deer, Antelope and Elk.
Totally unscientific test but last fall we shot some Bergers in .338, .284. and .244 end wise into some fir logs then recovered them. All of them created a caliber size hole in the wood for the first 2" and then expanded creating a much larger "wound channel" with pretty decent penetration ( not as much as a Barnes)

"wanted"

Two one shot antelope kills. A doe at 400 yards and a sleepy buck at 100 yards. I was shooting and old Remington 788 with a custom barrel in 6MMBR.

Worked for me.

Sounds good guys, I figured so. I use SMK's out of a 22-250AI and they work good, just not legal in WY!

So a Dasher it is!

.22 cal. rifles are legal in Wyoming now, just have to use a 60 grain or heavier bullet.! I wish the change that before I built my .243.

REALLY?? When did that change?

I know the 105 VLD's work well out of a 6x47 Lapua. I'd think the Dasher has slightly less capacity so they might not run as fast but still should work fine.

With a 6x47 you'll only gain about 50-100fps. A Dasher would be very capable. I am actually getting ready to build one myself but will be using the 105amax.

I run the 105's out of a 243 and they worked very well on my goats last fall, even tagged me a bear with them as well!!
The buck was at 405 and the doe was at 460 yards, bang, bang, just like that and the work began ;-)
