100-200 yard F-Class rimfire matches?

Have been kicking around the idea of an F-Class type match shot with .22 rimfires at 100 and 200 yards. Scopes allowed, probably with a power limit, front rest or bipod, shot prone.

Is anyone doing anything like this, if so where to get more information? Thanks, Matt.

We have a strong smallbore prone program at River Bend Gun Club in Atlanta. Conventional and metric matches shot at 50 & 100 yards; also have four 200 yd matches each year shot on the HP range pulling targets in the pits. At all of these matches, F-class shooters are welcome and the NRA is now encouraging these shooters to attend regular matches and shoot in their own class. F-class shooters will now use the ISSF international targets for 50 meters (A50) and 100 reduced from 300 meters (A31). The net effect is that the rings are essentially halved, much like you would find in any F-class mid- and long range targets.

What kind of information would you like?

Magnolia Rifle & Pistol Range has been doing it for quite a while now. You can check the web page for contact info. Really good guys running it with a good turnout. I'm sure they would be happy to talk about it. Kinda of funny it started to save some money on shooting the bigger rifles. First match guy shows up with a nightforce on his 22. Been a arms race ever since. LOL. But they do have good time.

Thanks for the great replies.

We're in sw Iowa and at this point it's just an idea.

I'll look into the clubs you guys mentioned.

No need to leave out the sling shooters, there are NRA Smallbore 200 yard targets for them. I shoot irons at these and Mini-Palma matches when ever I can. It's a ton of fun and great wind practice!

Just started here in SE Wisconsin...

From the website:

WBBSC 200 Yard 22 LR Rimfire Prone F-Class Match

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to shoot at 1000 yds? A .22lr fired at 200yds approximates shooting your .308 at 1000 yds! All you need is 25 MOA adjustment in your scope and you are all set. This match will be fired from the prone position with a front rest and rear rest (no one piece rests allowed) or from a sand bag or bipod. It will be restricted to .22lr caliber only, no .22 mags, .17 hmr, or .17 hm2. Empty chamber flags will be required and available at the range for a small fee if you do not have one. Target will be NRA TQ4 (with orange center) small-bore 100 yd rifle target set at 200yds. This gives it the correct ½ moa x ring for F-Class. Match will be 2 sighters and 15 rounds for score in 17 min, change targets, and then 2 sighters and 15 for score in another 17 minutes for a total possible score of 300-30x. Wind flags will be provided as personal wind flags are not allowed. We will have 2 classes, F-Open and F-TR. Match dates posted on WBBSC calendar. Cost of the match will be $5 per gun. The Pennsylvania 1000 yrd club has had several 200 yard benchrest matches after our regular match on Saturday. The only rule was it had to be a 22 rimfire.

We did it a few times in 2012 and had a great time. Last year was tough because of the rimfire ammo shortage, but I'm hoping for it to pick up again this year.

There are several places around the country that it is very popular.

the Elk River Sportsmans club has held a few mini Palma matchs over the years.
100 & 200 yards on our KD range 1/2 sling shooters and 1/2 what ever anyone else wanted to bring to the line.
The NRA target is a A-21 and we use golf tees for spotters.
Great way to get your butt handed to you in even moderate conditions.
