10/22 Ruger action screw stripped

Bought the little rimfire with an after market stock. The first few turns are stripped in the cast metal. Some one over tightened a too short screw. It deadends in the receiver so I can't just tap it myself? Any other quick solution?

I would just say to glue it into the stock. It wont move on you. Some guy glue their receivers in and never use release agent cause they don't ever take out the receiver from the stock.

That dead end you’re seeing is the barrel. Remove barrel from receiver and either do the helicoil insert thing to stay with 12-24 threads or size up to something like ¼-20 or ¼-28.

+1 (what Larry said) I used JB weld on a vintage .22rf semi-auto with a buggered action screw thread. Worked like a charm.
