10/22 headspace

Morning fella's, I've not messed with 10/22's in YEARS and just curious who folks were sending their bolts to have the headspace/ firing pin vertical pin these days? I could just purchase a new bolt from Kidd etc. but can't see the reason to drop that much change on this rifle, just like to have the headspace right over the .004" slop.

I did a Google thing but there are a mess of folks offering that service but like I said I've not messed with 10/22 in 20 something years so you could say I was out of the loop on who to use.

Thanks for any info you can drop my direction!

Thank you sir! I'm not a member over there so I tend to forget about the page. Again thanks for the direction.

He cut and re-chambered my barrel threaded the barrel into the receiver getting rid of the v-block and did something to the bolt but I forget what. The results are fantastic.

I have a 10/22 in the works but this one I wanted to put back to as stock as possible so doubt I get TOO crazy with it lol, so far had to replace the barrel and working on the stock but just like to get it back to squirrel accuracy..... now the other one may get a little more treatment as it's got a couple of bolt rifles it'll have to keep up with that we have worked over :) I need to save some more pennies up and give them a call. Thanks fella's the good reviews make me feel a bit better about sending my stuff off. Thanks!

15 years back precision shooting did a article where a stock ruger had about .004" shaved off face of bolt, about .015"- .017 taken off chamber end of stock barrel. Extractor cut depended with proper size file.

Results in 40-60% group size reduction with factory barrels.

Having done 6-7 rifles I can say it's a simple improvement if you have a lathe and chamber diameter gauge pins and depth gauge to measure things correctly. Or you can machine a chamber pin/gage.

If anyone needs photos of article text me at 6503631651

I would have to go visit a buddy to borrow his mill but the rest I can do at home. Guessing the removal from the chamber end would get the bullet to just kiss the lands which I've heard is a big deal with rimfire rifles.... I've got many pins, depth mic, and a lathe might just be a fun little project to play with and see what comes from it! Thanks for the info sir.

I can't PM you and live overseas, I would be interested to have a look at that article.
