1” scopes - thoughts?

What are your thoughts on the/a best 1” scope for mid to long range shooting (out to approx. 1000 yards)? Mostly for steel/paper targets, but occasional hunting, too.
Thanks

One of the Weaver T 36 would do it for your targets but for hunting, I don't think it would be your best choice......Are you looking for a 1" tube to avoid having to pop for 30mm rings?

Regards
Rick

I hope your not looking for the best long range scope based off some 1” scope rings that you already have. That would be penny wise and pound foolish.

Weight savings, mostly. Currently have a 3x12 that gets me comfortably out to 1000 yards, but a little more magnification is what I’m looking for.
And lightweight. Field portable is critical to me. Thus, I have aluminum Leupold Mk 4 rings, lightweight Atlas bipod - anywhere I can shave off a few ounces, I’m in.
SFP is fine, at half of max power (for close shots) I just double the reticle subtensions. Easy.

On the inexpensive side - Meuller 6x25. Glass is nice and clear scope holds zero and has illuminated reticle. Sells for around $250.
I have one and have never had a complaint about it.

Garrett Coleman on this site had a Nikon Monarch 5x20x44.
Asking 420. shipped. Sightron 6x24's are on this site for a fair price.
Both these scopes would be good for that distance. By far, not the best, but
for the cost, not bad. Saw a 6x24 Sightron S11 go for 350. shipped a while back.

I was thinking maybe a Leupold 6x18, with externally adjustable windage/elevation (MOA clicks) - might need Custom Shop help there - or maybe a Zeiss or similar. Not sure what all is out there...thus my question...
Nikon and Sightron are interesting thoughts...
Thanks to all who have responded so far

Is it fair to say that the diameter of the tube, by itself, doesn't matter? Range of elevation adjustment could be an issue if you need to shoot on targets from close to very far?
